The Lyon Saint-Exupéry station rather than Lyon Part-Dieu station. The Italian company Trenitalia, known for its high-speed red train, announced Tuesday January 21, 2025 the launch this year of a new line between Paris and Marseille.
From June 15, 2025Trenitalia will provide four daily rotations, connecting Gare de Lyon in Paris and Saint-Charles station in Marseille.
To reach Marseille, choose the Saint-Exupéry TGV station
The Lyonnais, for their part, will have to reach the TGV station at Saint-Exupéry airport to be able to reach the south of France and Marseille. Also new: they will also be able to reach the center of Paris from the station located in Colombier-Saugnieu. For the first time, a foreign company will serve this station to compete with the SNCF TGV and Ouigo.
From Lyon Saint-Exupéry, it will also be possible to reach the Avignon TGV station and Aix-en-Provence TGV station, according to Trenitalia.
A waste of time for Lyon residents in the city center but who could be attracted by more attractive prices than those offered by the SNCF for the Lyon Part-Dieu/Marseille connection.
-The opening of reservations is announced for the month of March and the prices are not yet known. Trenitalia could make rather aggressive offers for the launch of the line as for the Lyon-Paris connection launched three years ago.
The Lyon-Milan line reopens in April 2025
Another announcement from the Italian company: the relaunch from April 1, 2025 of the connection between France and Italy, between Paris and Milan.
It will be possible to reach Lyon again towards Turin and Milan. The line to Italy has been suspended since the end of August 2023 after the collapse of a tunnel in Savoie. Trenitalia was content with its Paris-Lyon connection while serving the ski resorts of the Alps in winter.
