Dakar Rally and FIA W2RC debut

Land Rover has announced its participation in the Dakar Rally and the FIA ​​World Rally Championship (W2RC). A racing version of the car based on the production Defender OCTA will be created for competitions.

The British off-road vehicle manufacturer has announced the participation of two cars in the five rounds of the FIA ​​World Rally Championship (W2RC) in the Stock category for production cars. As well as three cars in the championship’s main event, the Dakar Rally, from 2026.

A comprehensive program of testing and preparing the Defender for competition is already underway. It will culminate in testing and the launch of a full team later this year, ahead of the Dakar and the FIA ​​World Rally Championship in 2026.

Defender Octa.

The Land Rover Defender OCTA was officially revealed in July 2024. It is the most powerful version of the SUV. Under the hood of the vehicle is a 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 engine that develops 635 hp and 750 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 4.0 seconds.

In addition to the powerful engine, the Defender OCTA has been equipped with off-road tires, wheel arch spacers and increased ground clearance. The suspension and steering were changed, a sports exhaust system was installed, and special driving modes were added to the transmission settings.

In the United Kingdom, the Land Rover Defender OCTA is priced from £145,300 (approximately 171,000 euros). The Land Rover Defender OCTA Edition One is priced from £160,800 (nearly 190,000 euros).
