The Canadian may have found his future #1 goalie in Jacob Fowler.
The American – who dominated in his first season in the NCAA – continues to be talked about for the right reasons.
He was (again) elected goalie of the week in his conference:
Fowler fully deserves to receive this honor because he was presque unbeatable at the end of the week.
His two matches this weekend were excellent:
- 24 saves on 24 shots Friday against Providence (shutout)
- 29 saves on 29 shots Saturday against Providence
I’m going to push the note even further.
In his last four starts, the CH prospect has only given three goals on 96 shots.
And he won all his matches:
We agree that it is difficult to ask for better!
Jacob Fowler – barring a turnaround – should make the jump to the professionals at the end of the season.
And the reason is simple: he has nothing more to learn in the NCAA.
-He has dominated the university circuit for a year and a half and he must face better competition if he wants to continue to progress. His case is different from that of Michael Hage…
That said, the situation in front of the net is getting interesting in Montreal right now because Jakub Dobes is on fire.
Will Fowler’s arrival complicate things? Maybe… Especially if Dobes continues to perform like he has for three weeks.
Even though he was drafted in the 3rd round (2023), Fowler is one of the most exciting prospects in the Canadiens organization at the moment.
It is certain that his performance in the NCAA earns him points:
- 47-9-2 file (!)
- Average of 1.99
- Efficiency rate of .928
- Eight shutouts
We’ve always said that you have to be careful with a goalie’s statistics in the NCAA (hello, Cayden Primeau), but Fowler’s excellence still deserves to be highlighted.
He will need time in the American League like any other goalie his age, but it is possible to believe that he has a bright future when we see him being so dominant at Boston College.
In burst
– The channel has really landed.
– I agree.
– I like it.
