NEW YORK (January 15, 2025) – New Jersey Devils defenseman Johnathan Kovacevic was fined $1,996.53, the maximum allowed by the collective agreement, for a double-check against Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk during of NHL Game No. 695, played in New Jersey on Tuesday, January 14, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced Wednesday.

The incident occurred at 0:30 of the first period. Kovacevic received a minor penalty for double-checking.

The amount of the fine will be paid into the Players’ Emergency Fund.
