“It was a funny match, in a football match atmosphere. And you remained very zen…
When I arrived on the court, I saw that there were a lot of Lebanese and I said to myself that it was going to be like a Davis Cup atmosphere, except that I had never experienced such an atmosphere against me. I stayed in my bubble from start to finish. I cut myself off from my emotions. Honestly, I didn't feel anything. I imagined that I had my headphones on and everything that was happening was cool. And I told myself that my only opponent was the ball. That's how I mastered my match, even the last game which wasn't easy, by finishing with two big serves. With everything going on outside, I could have embarked on something harder. I didn't look at my team the whole game. In fact, I didn't want to give anything to my opponent's supporters. I didn't want to show them that I was looking for support. I was just looking at my feet. I played every point to the fullest and then, there it was. If you're not too humble and you look down on your opponent, maybe you'll be a little less accepting of what's happening outside. In the end I did my job.
