Defensive lineman Cleyon Laing has signed a contract extension until the end of 2026 with Ottawa in the CFL, the Rouge et Noir announced Tuesday.
Laing was part of Gray Cup championship clubs in 2016 and 2017 (Ottawa and the Toronto Argonauts, respectively).
A 34-year-old athlete from Edmonton, he collected the 50th sack of his career in September, against the Montreal Alouettes.
Laing finished the season with four sacks and 25 tackles.
Playing in the Canadian circuit since 2013, Laing has always worn the colors of the Rouge et Noir or the Argos.
“Cleyon’s importance to our team cannot be overstated,” said Rouge et Noir head coach Bob Dyce. He is a pillar of our group of leaders, both on and off the field. We are extremely happy to be able to count on him for two more years. »
Laing played with Iowa State in the NCAA. In 142 games in the CFL, he totaled 50 sacks, 248 tackles and four forced fumbles.
