The Durban Sharks have revealed the squad which will travel to Gironde to challenge Bordeaux-Bègles on the final day of the Champions Cup (Sunday January 19, 2 p.m.). Among the notable absences, that of second row Eben Etzebeth.
The Sharks could well be the arbiter of this group 1 of the Champions Cup. The Durban players held on to Toulouse who certainly won, but without the offensive bonus point. A shortfall that leaves UBB alone at the head of group 1. The Bordelais have achieved a flawless performance, for the moment, with fifteen points taken, one more than the Toulouse residents. If the Bordelais wish to offer themselves a royal road to the final phase with only receptionsit would be better for Yannick Bru’s men to improve on their success against… these same Sharks.
Koch and Mapimpi also packages
The South Africans have revealed their group for their trip to France. It still has major absences. The second row of the Springboks (131 caps) Eben Etzebeth does not appear there. He had already not been able to face Stade Toulouse. Center André Esterhuizen (19 caps), also absent against Toulouse, will not play against UBB. On the other hand, the versatile Grant Williams (17 caps) and the center Lukhanyo Am (40 caps) will return after missing the meeting against Antoine Dupont’s teammates. On the other hand, the pillar Vincent Koch (48 capes), shaken by a percussion from Anthony Jelonch, will be forfeited against the Girondins. Makazole Mapimpi (46 caps) and Jordan Hendrikse (2 caps) will not see the Jacques Chaban-Delmas stadium either.
Siya Kolisi (92 caps), Ox Nché (39 caps), Bongi Mbonambi (77 caps), Trevor Nyakane (64 caps) and Jaden Hendrikse (15 caps) will be present.
