Saturday January 11, the Sainte-Germaine stadium in Bouscat hosted the second edition of the Rugby tournament called the Christmas Tournament intended for young players in the under 10 and 12 year old categories. More than a nice gift, the event offered an unforgettable day to the 560 participating children.
Organized by Stade Bordelais, the tournament brought together teams from major clubs from the Top 14 and Pro D2, such as SU Agen, Aviron Bayonnais, CA Bègles Bordeaux Gironde, CA Brive Corrèze, Stade Montois, the Section Paloise, Stade Rochelais, RC Vannes and Stade Toulousain.
A beautiful gift
The atmosphere was festive, with warmth and joy in the hearts of players, educators and officials. The matches were very competitive, but always in the best state of mind. “It was their first trip with a bus trip and a night in a hotel. Playing against teams with prestigious names, like Stade Toulousain, and measuring themselves against many players was fulfilling for them,” confided Anaïs Quéré, educator and guide for young RC Vannes players.
No wonder all the young players, like Antoine, Axel, Djahees, Emery, Gaspard, Hugo, Lino, Lucas Pablo, Quentin and Théo, among others, had a great time, even if they all came out very dirty at the start. outcome of the matches.
The perfect organization of the tournament, entrusted to Wilfrid Dupouy, general secretary of the Stade Bordelais Rugby club, was praised by all the participating teams. “It’s a real honor to be invited,” said Sonia Sarraute of Stade Rochelais.
Stade Bordelais Rugby, co-chaired by Simon Doursat and Benoît Khouane, has more than 600 members, including 327 children. The club is attached to the values of education and sharing, to the rugby spirit, as underlined by its vice-president Philippe Gaubrie.
The winners of the Tournament: 1. Aviron Bayonnais. 2. Stade Bordeaux. 3. Stade Toulousain/Stade Rochelais.
