Enzo Sternal, 17-year-old young talent from Olympique de Marseille, seems to be on his way to Anderlecht. The Frenchman, winner of the prestigious Gambardella Cup last year, is expected to join the Mauves in the coming days.
He should first play with the RSCA Futures in the Challenger Pro League. Sternal transferred in 2022 from AS Nancy’s youth academy and has since established himself as one of the most promising talents in France.
He won the national U17 title in the 2022-23 season and impressed last year playing a key role in winning the Coupe Gambardella, a highly regarded tournament in France.
This season, the versatile striker made his debut for Marseille’s first team. His first appearance took place on August 17 against Brest (5-1 defeat), followed by a debut on October 20 against Montpellier (5-0 victory). Although his chances of playing for OM remained limited, Anderlecht sees Sternal as a player with enormous potential.
-The RSCA plan is to allow Sternal to play with the RSCA Futures first, where he can gain experience in a competitive environment. With a contract at Marseille until 2027, Sternal was a long-term investment for the Marseille club.
Anderlecht, however, see him as a player who fits perfectly with their youth development philosophy. Sternal is a left lane player, but can also be used on the right side and in the center of the game.
