Morocco announces a package! (OFFICIAL)

Algeria As the African Cup of Nations (CAN) begins soon, Morocco announces a very large-scale package.

After a memorable journey for the Atlas Lionesses during the 2023 Women’s World Cup, a new difficult test hits Moroccan international Nesryne El Chad. An indisputable starter under the direction of Reynald Pedros, the central defender made history by becoming the best young African player at the CAF Awards. However, the 21-year-old suffered a serious injury in November 2023, with a complete rupture of her anterior cruciate ligament and further damage to her right knee, bringing her 2023-2024 season to an abrupt end.

Despite her determination and desire to return to the highest level, the dream of participating in the 2025 Women’s African Cup of Nations (CAN), which will take place in Morocco, now seems compromised. After several months of rehabilitation, El Chad returned to the field, nourishing the hope of being able to make his return to the selection. However, persistent injuries and the resulting complications shattered her hopes of participating in this flagship competition for the Atlas Lionesses.

This new disappointment comes on top of a series of hard blows for the Moroccan national team, which is struggling to regain its full squad after the World Cup. Nesryne El Chad, who had been one of the centerpieces of the team, will now have to focus on her recovery, while the Moroccan women’s team will have to prepare for the CAN without one of its rising figures. A heavy loss for Moroccan women’s football, but the hope remains that the defender will be able to return to the field in the long term.
