Football: First match and first point for Ruben Vargas with Sevilla

Ruben Vargas could have had a dream debut in the Sevilla jersey. Arriving this week from Augsburg for a sum of 2.5 million euros, the Swiss international hit the post on Saturday, during the Sevillians’ 1-1 draw against Valencia.

Vargas (26) came on in the 69th minute, replacing Frenchman Lucien Agoumé. Aligned in a fairly free offensive role, the Lucerne player tried his luck from around twenty meters but found the post.

Fortunately for him, his teammate Adria Pedrosa equalized in added time, to respond to Luis Rioja’s opener. An important point to keep the red zone at bay. Sevilla are currently 13th in La Liga.

Note that Djibril Sow played 79 minutes of the match for the Sevillians.
