launch of the national championship 1 for the 2024-2025 season

The National 1 championship for the 2024-2025 season will kick off this Saturday, January 11. The elite teams will return to the courts to try to succeed Ace Ville de Dakar, defending champion in both the men’s and women’s categories. This sporting marathon will begin with a phase where each table will be made up of two groups of 8 teams. As specified by the Sud Quotidien website, the championship promises to be intense from the first day.

Concerning the men’s draw, the competition will also open this Saturday, January 11, at the Marius Ndiaye stadium and in various regions, with 14 teams divided into two groups of 7. They will try to dethrone Ace Ville de Dakar. Yatma Diop’s club, representing Senegal in the Basketball Africa League (BAL), will put its title on the line, starting in Group A alongside Mermoz, US Rail, ASC Bopp, ASUC Sports, Louga BC, and ABAZ from Mbao, new promotion. Pool B will include Duc, AS Douanes, UGB, Guédiawaye BA, Port, ASFA, US Parcelles Assainies, and RS Yoff, also promoted this season. These details were reported by our colleagues at Sud Quotidien.

In the women’s table, Ace Ville de Dakar, which won all the trophies of the previous season, begins the defense of its title. Ranked fourth during the last African Club Cup, the municipal team, rich in numerous internationals, remains the undeniable favorite. It is opposed to the teams of CEMT, GBA, Flying Stars, ASFO, Mbour BC, and Pikine BC. In Pool B, Jeanne d’Arc, second Senegalese team at the African Champions Cup, and Dakar Université Club (Duc) aim to upset the leadership of Ace Ville de Dakar. They share their pool with ASC Bopp, Diamaguène, Jaraaf, UCAD SC, SLBC, and US EPT.
