The Sangliers de Belvès have returned below the waterline due to their last defeat of the year, Sunday December 22, in Clermont/Cournon, a direct competitor for maintenance (28-0). The Belvésois were largely dominated, particularly on the touchline and, to make matters worse, they received three yellow cards.
However, they are only one point behind Riom, the first non-relegation team and one more match to go. So everything is still possible. And if we want to dream, we can say to ourselves that qualification is only five points away.
To restart the year as well as possible, “training sessions resumed on Friday January 3. We did three training sessions this week to get back into the swing of things. Everyone was involved,” assures Jean-Michel Mouillac, the Belvédois manager. And the first official match of 2025 will not be an easy task since it is the reception of Cahors, leader, who has only lost twice.
-Two returns
The good news for the Stadistes is the return of captain Benoît Arvouet, his back injury was not as serious as initially feared. Adrien Fauvel will also be able to hold his place at the tail end. The men of Mouillac, Christophe Bramery and Lionel Fongauffier are determined not to cede anything to the Lotois.
“We want to erase the big defeat of the first leg (57-10), we are revengeful. We are preparing to beat this team. We play at home where we haven’t lost since the first day. We will have to put on the heating blue. Doing nothing is out of the question. Our game will be based on commitment and aggression. If we win, everything can change,” adds the manager.
The rest of this block will see the Belvésois go to Arpajon then receive Malemort. It is therefore crucial since these are two others poorly classified.
