Gary Bettman did everything he could to keep the Coyotes in Arizona.

But at a certain point, he realized the obvious: the first version of the Coyotes no longer had its place in the NHL. The club’s assets were quickly sold to a Salt Lake City group.

I say “first version” because hockey in the desert is not dead.

The NHL therefore welcomed Utah HC last year. Ryan Smith and his group helped Gary Bettman get out of this situation by bringing hockey to Salt Lake City.

Honestly, it felt good. The NHL now has 32 real teams and there is no longer an organization simply trying to reach the salary floor at all costs. So much the better.

But is everything perfect in the state of Utah? No.

The Yeti (because yes, I think that will eventually be the name of the club) announced that in addition to the opening of the upper level of the arena for the rest of the season, there is a promotion that comes into play: $10 tickets in these sections.

State university students and people who shop at Smith’s Grocery Stores Those who want to pay US$10 will be entitled to a ticket, a hot dog and a bottle of water in the top section. A hot dog and a bottle of water at the Bell Center cost… close to $10 Canadian.

It’s available in the section that wasn’t yet open (yes, hockey came to Salt Lake City quickly) because the view is partially obstructed at the top.

I know everything isn’t perfect when a move happens quickly, but to see an NHL club offering tickets at this price with food is still unworthy of the product of the best league in the world.

Luckily it wasn’t the big bad Winnipeg Jets who did this. Papa Bettman would have been very angry and the club would undoubtedly have been entitled to a visit from the commissioner.

In burst

– Well done.

– Please note.

– CH is four points from 29th place. #Perspective

– Hum…

– To be continued.
