District officials did not come empty-handed, presenting the club with mini-goals, bibs, jerseys and balls donated by Crédit Agricole. An event which will be part of the many important dates of the 80 years of existence of the club chaired by Sébastien Rolland. As the year draws to a close, it’s an opportunity to take a look back and trace the history of the club.

Three names, three stages

A football field already existed in Heudreville-sur-Eure in 1942. Young players from the Eure valley played there together. The arrival of Marcel Védie, installed as a mechanic in the village of La Croix-Saint-Leufroy, will prove decisive. This former Évreux AC player gave birth to the club which would be affiliated to the federation on January 1, 1944 under the name Jeunesse Sportive culture leisure La Croix-Heudreville. The club will then be identified as JSCLN (Jeunesse Sportive Culture Loisirs Normande) before becoming the LCVEF.

The adventure of the greens begins on the Heudreville lawn, followed for many years in the park of the Château de La Croix-Saint-Leufroy. Since 1977, the Greens have played on the current pitch which bears the name of the club’s first president, Émile Letord.

Marcel Védie in memories

Marcel Védie will forever remain the legend of the club to which he devoted unlimited commitment. On July 26, 1968, his investment was rightly rewarded. That day, Marcel Védie received the medal of honor for youth and sports. In the shadow of the home, we must not forget his wife who took an active part in washing swimsuits. At the end of June, on behalf of the club, Sébastien Rolland unveiled a plaque bearing the image of the founder on the locker room wall in the presence of Claudine Musement, his daughter. “We found it unusual that there was nothing in his name. We wanted to repair this oversight,” he explained.

Dépêche Cup

Sports results have marked the history of the club. In 1967, the players from the Eure valley achieved a feat by winning the Dépêche Cup (ancestor of the Armand-Mandel Cup). La Croix won 2-0 against ES Damville thanks to goals from Léa and Gimenez.

At the beginning of the 1980s, under the presidency of Jean-Claude Levézier, the Greens played several seasons in PH. The time also of the revelation of Pascal Amours, the only player of the club who will have a professional career.

This year, the 80th anniversary was celebrated in apotheosis with a sixth round in the Coupe de followed by an accession to departmental 1. “We could not have dreamed of better for these 80 years, all the planets were aligned », welcomes the president

At the bottom of the wave

Sébastien Rolland, however, did not forget to mention the difficult and complicated seasons the club went through, he particularly remembers his arrival in the Eure valley in 2003. “I was elected president by default of candidates. There were no more senior teams and only 70 licensees remained. No one wanted to get involved and give their time. »

And added: “Those who held the club at that time have as much merit. »

At the bottom of the wave, the club bounced back the following year thanks to former local players. Laurent Levézier will be the great architect of the renewal of the Greens. “Laurent came to see me to put together a senior team with a team of friends,” says the president.

A winning bet, the club will start again with a vengeance by making three consecutive climbs and an exceptional run until the 6th round of the Coupe de France in 2023-2024. A sign of its good health, this last season La Croix Vallée Eure beat its record number of licensees: 270.
