Hit by injuries and back-to-back, the Sixers and Wizards showed up at the Wells Fargo Center with B teams tonight, and they were Tyrese Maxey (29 points) and Guerschon Yabusele (21 points and a decisive block ) which allowed Nick Nurse’s players to snatch victory (109-103).
Unsurprisingly, we didn’t see a great match between two teams in difficulty, but at least there was some excitement at the end of the match… After leading the score for a long time, the Sixers clearly fell asleep, to the point of letting Washington go ahead! Before the start of the last quarter, thanks to the awakening of Tyrese Maxey, the lead is 14 points, but little by little, the Wizards will pick up the score.
Franco-French duel in “money time”
The Butler-Kispert duo has almost no difficulty scoring, and on a coverage error, Corey Kispert finds himself alone at 3-points to give the Wizards the advantage (98-96). Everything has to be done again for the Sixers, and it’s Bilal Coulibaly who drives home the point (101-98) two minutes from the end.
The fouls keep coming, there is waste, but the intensity is there, and on two free throws, Tyrese Maxey gives the advantage back to the Sixers one minute from the siren (103-102).
Behind, Jared Butler misses a lay-up, and on the transition, Tyrese Maxey takes advantage of the bad defensive withdrawal to score near the circle (105-103). Philly holds the right end, and it is Guershon Yabusele who will avoid any fear by covering up a lay-up from Bilal Coulibaly who had just come into play.
The “Dancing Bear” chambers his compatriot, and it is this same Yabusele who concludes the free throw contest for a very laborious 109-103 victory. Throws recovered after a monstrous baseline dunk!
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– And show Yabusele. Between his counter and his huge dunk (finally canceled), the Frenchman animated the last thirty seconds. But overall, he was the most consistent and consistent Sixer with his 21 points on 6 of 11 shooting, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 1 interception. He’s the driving force behind the team!
– Hecatomb. At both the Wizards and the Sixers, there were more people in the infirmary than on the field. In summary, here are those absent from the evening: Joel Embiid, Paul George, Kyle Lowry, Andre Drummond, Jordan Poole, Malcolm Brogdon, Alex Sarr…
– Sales time. Before the meeting, it was possible to find seats for less than 10 dollars for the lowest part of the room… There were even seats for… a dollar!!! The arrival of the Wizards, last in the Eastern Conference, obviously does not unleash passions. Maybe the arrival of Zion Williamson and his Pelicans will fill the room at the next game…
