The Montreal Roses will not have a monopoly on Quebec players in the Super League of the North (SLN). Now CF Rapide of Ottawa has just reached an agreement with Florence Belzile, originally from Chicoutimi.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who knows the country’s capital well having already lived and played there, signs her first professional contract.

She spent the last four years playing for the University of Nebraska Huskers in the NCAA. According to -, the Rapide allowed her to take time off from the start of the SLN’s inaugural season so she could finish her studies.

During her time in the NCAA, the attacking midfielder scored 8 goals and 28 assists in 73 matches. She was named to the Big Ten Conference All-Academic Team for three consecutive years, from 2022 to 2024.

Belzile recorded 17 assists in 2023, which allowed him to sit at the top of his conference in this regard.

She attended Canadian National Under-17 Team camps in Mexico City and Markham, Ontario in 2019.

His contract will be valid for the next two years.
