More eager than ever to continue to promote heritage, the host must nevertheless abandon a broadcast project for financial and economic reasons.
He has embodied French heritage, the “Secrets of History”, the great evenings of December 31 for five years and more recently, the fictional character of Bellefond . However, he is insatiable and wants more. For him, it is not a question of showing off his hoe to consumers of small windows, but of further promoting landscapes, monuments, and the region.
Guest on RTL last September by our colleague Éric Dussart, Stéphane Bern had confided: “I find that there are no longer any real heritage programs on television. There are plenty of completely innovative, inclusive and friendly projects. And what is heritage? It’s when we defend, for example: Are you for or against the new stained glass windows in Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral?”

Postponed to September 2025, if all goes well
«It’s also an interesting controversy. We are going to transform the Place de la Concorde, I participated in the project, I find it interesting (…) We are working on it so that it will be on the air in January”announced the enthusiast. It is January. No new program appears in the program schedules of France Télévisions, its favorite group, and the only one, due to its mission, capable of carrying out this type of project.
What happened? “It was supposed to be done in January. But France Télévisions must make savings. It’s almost ready.”he lamented at the end of December on another medium. “This is a heritage show where there will also be debates and controversies. We will fight the fight. Its code name: ‘Monumental’. It’s postponed until September if the money is there.”.
In the meantime, the expert will be this season in “The Favorite Village of the French”, in “The Favorite Monument of the French”, certainly at the helm of event programs, in the collection of legal thrillers Bellefond of which he plays the main role with so much pleasure (the next episode is scheduled for France 3 on January 21), and of course in “Secrets of History” whose next issue will look at the destiny and exceptional designs of King Louis XI.
