Lisa Vittozzi, a white season after a golden season
Lisa Vittozzi was having an exceptional season before her injury.
Last winter, she won the big crystal globe for the first time in her career, ahead of the Frenchwoman Lou Jeanmonnot for 23 small points. She had embellished this coronation with the small individual globe to end in style a season which had already seen her shine at the World Championships in biathlon 2024.
In Nove Mesto, the 29-year-old biathlete won her first world title, individually, and three silver medals in the pursuit, the mass start and the single mixed relay.
It will not be able to immediately capitalize on these titles, but will try to relaunch itself next winter with the Winter Olympics.
“We decided not to force a return to avoid further risks and not compromise the next months of training, shifting our attention to the Milano Cortina 2026 races,” said the Italian, announcing the premature end of his sporting season.
In front of her audience, Lisa Vittozzi will aim for her first individual Olympic medal after the bronze won in the mixed relay at PyeongChang 2018.
