CR Belouizdad achieved a resounding feat on Friday by beating Al Ahly (1-0) in the group stage of the CAF Champions League. Abdelkader Amrani, coach of the Algerian club, did not hide his great satisfaction.

This success for the Algerians puts an end to the Egyptians’ incredible series of 27 unbeaten matches in this competition. Thanks to this victory, Belouizdad climbs to second place in Group D with six points, just behind Al Ahly, who have seven.

“I thank the players for their performance today. They were men on the pitch and deserved to win,” said Abdelkader Amrani, coach of Belouizdad.

“I haven’t left my room since the first game. I was looking for solutions to restore our team’s reputation and win this match. The real objective against Al Ahly was to get the three points, because staying in the race for qualification is more important than just a reaction after the defeat. »

The coach also recognized the impact of recent criticism: “It is true that the criticism hurt me a lot, but I always accept it. » With this victory, the Algerian club is now looking ahead to the next matches with the objective of qualifying for the quarter-finals.
