Very nice move from Mechelen, which will finally offer itself the replacement of David Bates… and Zinho Vanheusden – The latest transfers

Mechelen will offer the replacement of Zinho Vanheusden and David Bates, already tracked last summer. Celtic’s Scottish defender Stephen Welsh arrives on loan with no option to buy.

At KV Mechelen, the defense has been under construction since manager David Bates joined Standard last summer.

This season, the Malinois managed to conclude the loan of Zinho Vanheusden to compensate for his departure.

However, the former Rouche, on loan from Inter Milan, is still injured and has barely played since the start of the season. The defensive problem is therefore still not resolved in Mechelen.

Bates and Vanheusden’s replacement arrives in Mechelen

And it is towards an old target that the residents of the AFAS Stadion are heading. According to the words of GRV Media and many other British dailies, Mechelen will finally obtain the loan of Stephen Welsh, from Celtic.

The 24-year-old center back was already being tracked last summer, but Celtic never wanted to sell him, while Mechelen was looking for a permanent purchase. The situation is the same this winter, except that the KVM would this time agree to only obtain the loan without purchase option from Stephen Welsh, on whom Celtic are still counting. An agreement would be very close.
