The sun shone brightly on Saturday on the Engiadina of Saint-Moritz for the victory of Conny Hütter, the podium of Lara Gut-Behrami and the return of Lindsey Vonn to the White Circus, during the first super-G contested in Graubünden . One thing is certain, it will be different on Sunday for the second event on the program. The sky is going to get bad and the second super-G could well be canceled. At least that’s the trend that was emerging at the end of the day.

During the team leaders' meeting on Saturday evening in the upscale resort, pessimism was the order of the day. “It will be more complicated, that’s clear,” confirmed Jürg Zogg, the organization’s meteorologist. Concretely, it is especially the top of the route which risks being impassable due to poor visibility, a recurring problem in Saint-Moritz, notably with the frequent presence of the famous Maloja Serpent (Malojaschlange). On top of that, the west wind, with gusts of up to 60 km/h or more, would make the race unsafe and irregular.

The few light centimeters of snow that are likely to fall during the night and early in the morning, however, should not be (too) problematic. “The base surface is good,” rejoices Peter Gerdol, boss of the Women’s World Cup. The white gold can thus be pushed by machines without the track being damaged. Temperatures will be warmer than Saturday but will remain negative.
