Alex Fiva is in good shape. A week after his success in Val Thorens, the Grisons veteran produced another top performance by taking 2nd place in the second Innichen event. In Italy, the Olympic vice-champion reached the 36th podium of his rich career.
After two good rounds in the 8th and quarterfinals, the semi-final was more complicated for Alex Fiva. Having not had a good start, he was able to take advantage of the collision between the Swede David Mobaerg and the German Florian Wilmsmann, allowing him to take the lead. During the final, the skier from Parpan was unable to get the better of the Canadian Reece Howden, who led the entire race. But Alex Fiva mastered his race perfectly to finish ahead of the Italian Simone Deromedis who took 3rd place.
Among the other Swiss, Ryan Regez took 6th place while Marc Bischofberger and Tobias Baur were eliminated in the quarter-finals. Romain Detraz was taken out in the 8th.
No final for Swiss skiers
For her return to competition after her collision in Arosa on Tuesday evening, Fanny Smith fell during the quarter-finals even though she had had a very good start and was at the head of her group. The Vaudoise seemed to have gotten up without difficulty, four days after being hit in the hip.
All Swiss women's hopes rested on the shoulders of Talina Gantenbein. Unfortunately for her, her result will not be as good as that of Friday (2nd) since she finished 3rd in her semi-final and missed the final for the occasion. During the small final, Talina Gantenbein was unbalanced when landing the first jump and missed the next gate. She therefore takes 8th place.
Daniela Maier won the day's race again and is the big winner of this weekend after her double success in Innichen. The podium is completed by the Italian Jole Galli and the French Marielle Berger Sabbatel.
