With the CAN 2025 draw set for January 27, Fouzi Lekjaa affirms that Morocco will give everything and hopes that this tournament remains in the history of African Football as the “ best ever ».
Lhe draw for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (CAN) in Morocco will take place on January 27, announced the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
CAF also revealed that the tournament will take place from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
The matches will take place in six cities, including the Mohammed V Complex in Casablanca and the Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat. The other host cities are Agadir, Marrakech, Fez and Tangier.
A total of 24 teams qualified for the competition, with Morocco leading the way.
The full lineup includes: Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Algeria, DR Congo, Senegal, Egypt, Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Uganda, South Africa, Tunisia, Nigeria, Mali, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Comoros, Sudan, Benin, Tanzania, Botswana and Mozambique
CAF officially granted Morocco the right to host the competition last September, after reviewing its world-class stadiums and infrastructure. Algeria and the joint applications of Nigeria and Benin both dropped out.
Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, described this moment as “historic”. He praised King Mohammed VI’s attention to sport and his commitment to improving football in Africa.
Morocco wants to organize the “ best CAN of all time »said Lekjaa. The country has a rich footballing history and modern infrastructure and will leave nothing to chance.
