Due to documents not transmitted, the Biarritz club (temporarily) loses three places in the ranking.
Biarritz Olympique was sanctioned with a withdrawal of five points from the Pro D2 ranking by the French Rugby Disciplinary Council due to “non-communication to the control commissions»of documents requested, the LNR announced on Monday.
«This sanction is, in particular, the consequence of delays and non-communication to the Control Commission of the Regulatory Authority of information and documents requested from the sports company», Specified the National Rugby League in a press release.
The club considers itself within the rules
This sanction also leads to the revocation of the suspended sentence (10,000 euros fine) pronounced by the French Rugby Disciplinary Council against Olympic Biarritz last June.
The Basque club announced on Monday that it would appeal this decision – an appeal which is not suspensive, specifies the LNR. The BO, which occupied 4th in Pro D2, therefore falls, at least temporarily, to 7th place with 35 points instead of 40.
«This decision with serious consequences is all the more incomprehensible as the club provided the commission with the numerous required documents, within the allotted time frame. The BOPB considers that it has complied with the necessary steps to meet regulatory requirements.», argued the BOPB in a press release. “The club would like to point out that it has undertaken significant efforts to guarantee sound and sustainable financial management.», added Biarritz Olympique.
