KV Kortrijk will once again fight to go down this season. In January, several players could leave. According to Japanese media, the Guys have reached an agreement with local club Urawa Red Diamonds.
Kaneko leaves Kortrijk
KV Kortrijk will already say goodbye to Takuro Kaneko. Indeed, Urawa Red Diamonds and KVK have reportedly reached an agreement regarding the transfer of the 27-year-old right side defender. The agreement would be complete except for a few details.
The experienced Japanese joined Sapporo last summer, having been loaned to Dinamo Zagreb the previous year. It seems the big leagues have been interested in him, but the Urawa Red Diamonds have been chasing his signature for years. This time, they finally succeeded.
Return to Japan
Kaneko, who is still under contract with the Guys until mid-2027, will bring some money to KVK. Perhaps they will still make a nice profit on the player. Kaneko oscillated between the bench and a starting place but still participated in 16 duels.
Kortrijk thus separates itself from an important link in its team. The club is therefore expected to call for reinforcements in January. The fight against relegation promises to be tough and it is clear that the core needs an injection of quality.
