French colossus Teddy Riner is embarking on a new project far from the tatami mats.
Teddy Riner once again brought the crowds to their feet at the Paris Olympic Games last summer, winning not one, but two new gold medals. Even if Martin Fourcade has once again become the most successful French athlete, with a gold medal won on the green carpet in biathlon a few days ago, Teddy Riner remains one of the greatest legends with five charms in total.
But what future for judoka on the tatami mats? In his words, the prospect of Los Angeles 2028 is not unthinkable. During a thank you evening organized by Teddy Riner on Friday November 29, he announced the color. “The most important goal is the four years ahead with the 2028 Olympic Games in mind.”
But in the meantime, the Frenchman will embark on new challenges and in particular the presentation of a reality TV show! The one who has already been world champion 11 times will host, with his partner and mother of his two children Luthna Plocus, the French version of the Netflix program, Love is blind (love is blind in French).
The concept is quite simple: the show brings together fifteen candidates who must get to know each other without ever seeing what the other looks like. Participants have the opportunity to interact, without ever seeing each other, by sitting in capsules, separated by a wall. After several meetings, they can propose to each other and it is only then that they will discover each other physically…
The series has been a hit abroad since its creation in 2020, particularly in the United States, but also everywhere on social networks. Filming of the French version is already taking place, in Africa, in Morocco more precisely, and broadcast via the streaming platform is planned for 2025, not before.
This is not the judoka’s first TV experience. In 2019, Teddy Riner hosted “The Race of Champions on France Télévisions”, a show which was ultimately canceled due to lack of audience.
But the Frenchman is preparing other surprises according to him. There will be a lot of new news for me with the launch of my tournament, my foundation and some changes to brand positioning. Beautiful things!
