Achraf Hakimi, nominated for the “player of the year” prize at the CAF Awards 2024 (or African Ballon d’Or), will be accompanied by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, president of Paris Saint-Germain.
“The president of PSG will make the trip to support the Moroccan right-back,” specifies Le Parisien, the Lion of the Atlas being an immutable executive of the French club.
The media specifies, however, that the two men will not make the trip together. The Qatari must participate, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Lausanne, Switzerland, in a meeting of the UEFA executive committee.
The ceremony is expected to kick off at 7 p.m. at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, this Monday, December 16.
Hakimi is, as a reminder, in competition with Simon Adingra, crowned African champion in February with Ivory Coast, Serhou Guirassy, Guinean striker for Borussia Dortmund, Ademola Lookman, author of a hat-trick in the Europa League final with Atalanta, and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, also nominated in two other categories.
Achraf Hakimi was, as a reminder, captain of the U23 Atlas Lions, bronze medalists during the French Olympic Games, before recovering the armband in the A selection in October. He also won the Coupe de France-Ligue 1-Trophée des Champions treble with Paris Saint-Germain.
