In 4h09’22”, Yanis Jeannerat was the fastest Jura resident in Taupo. Ajoulot, based in Bern, took a rather remarkable 25th place on Sunday (out of 275) in the men’s 25-29 year old category after the 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike ride and 21.1 km run. on foot. This performance also propelled him to 102nd place (out of 3,086) in the scratch rankings.
“I bought a new wetsuit. As a result, I swam much faster than usual,” says Ajoulot. “I had too much fun, even if it was war in this water! I like it when it’s a little rough. On the bike, I tried to leave carefully. I finished a little stronger. I kept quite a bit on, because I knew the running was going to be hard. It wasn’t hell, but it was still a bit hot. It was definitely a battle to get the cramps out. along, I was at the limit. known nicer, but I’m really happy with my time.”
Nathan Gigon on the sidewalk
Nathan Gigon finished his journey in 5h23’01”, in 113th place (out of 128) in the 18-24 year old category and 2245th overall. For the rider from Fontenais, things got seriously tough after two disciplines. “In swimming, I did a time of 25’45”, well below what I was aiming for. The bike also went very well, it’s my strong point. I put it in 10th position in my category”, traces the 2024 Jura champion.
Adductor problems then arose. “Impossible to run. I walked the first 7 kilometers. I finished the race jogging,” grimaces Ajoulot, who still had fun. “The running turned into a little walk by the lake with a view of the volcanoes, so that was pretty cool too,” he laughs. “I didn’t worry too much, it’s part of the learning process. At least I was able to finish. I’m very happy.”
