IThere was no photo, this Sunday at Rémy-Goalard, during this meeting which saw diligent Soustonnais recite their scales to pass nine tries to Saint-Paulois incapable of registering the slightest point and who have probably already says goodbye to maintenance (67-0).

After a first quarter of an hour of observation, during which Menjoulou broke the deadlock with two penalties (6-0), the locals got down to business and Faure scored the first try (13-0, 17th). Faced with the difficulty of breaking through the defense, the visitors launched a penetrating group from 30 meters which was stopped dead on the line of 22 soustonnais, a line which they did not cross during the game. For its part, Soustons varied the game and confirmed its domination with two new tries, one by the experienced hooker Barberteguy (28th), the other by the pillar Daugareil (39th) at the end of a penetrating group. The offensive bonus was acquired at the break (27-0) thanks to three tries from the forwards.

Cédric Menjoulou’s Soustonnais shattered the Saint-Paul defense at Goalard.

The SPS condemned to suffer

From the start of the second period, three-quarters of Souston joined in the dance. From the center of the field, Nayraguet launched the gazelles: the ball passed through P. Labeyrie, Demarcq, Jeanjean, then Ledoux at the conclusion of this very good action (34-0, 41st). Wanting to save his line, Ducamp received a yellow card and a penalty try (41-0, 45th). Gayon, then Lasserre in turn increased the score (55-0, 64th).

Powerless against Bouharts who mastered their rugby, the Saint-Paulois tried to play the few balls they touched, but made too many mistakes and could only suffer. Caught on the line after a thorough attack as is customary, Darmaillacq managed to serve Gayon for his second try (60-0, 71st). Finally, P. Labeyrie broke through from midfield and scored several times to score the ninth and final try of the game transformed by Menjoulou (67-0, 73rd).

The Saint-Paulois were never able to undermine an imperturbable Soustonnais curtain.

Fanny, the Saint-Paulois have conceded their heaviest defeat – the 11th in 11 days – and will have to find resources to raise their heads. The Soustonnais, for their part, took advantage of the surprising setback of Rion-Morcenx at home against Navarrenx (21-26) to seize first place before the start of the return phase and the reception… of RMCR, their runner-up, on Sunday 22. That will be another story…

Reactions

Marc Dargelas (co-president of Soustons) : “We are satisfied to win with the bonus which, even without saying it, was our objective of the day. The guys who respected the instructions, paid for their work and achieved the goal of being in the top 2 at mid-season. »
Ludovic Broustaut (Saint-Paul winger) : “We came across people who were stronger than us. We miss the start, we miss tackles, we make mistakes, we are not in the match. With people suspended, it’s not easy to rebuild a group. There is one more meeting before the break: we are going to try to take a hit on Hasparren. We have to forget this match and continue to have fun on the pitch. »
