Before returning to the 1st Grand Prix of the 2025 season which will take place on March 14 in Australia, Rétromobile will offer enthusiasts from February 5 to 9 the opportunity to discover a 600 m² exhibition retracing nearly 60 years of Formula 1 history through 16 cars with a direct or distant link with France.
In parallel with this unique exhibition, the public will have the pleasure of seeing on the live stage testimonies from drivers, team managers, mechanics and trainers, journalists and photographers, true figures of Formula 1.
An immersion in the history of French Formula 1
On the occasion of Rétromobile 2025, motorsport enthusiasts will be able to find one of the essential exhibitions of this new edition in Pavilion 2 of the show: “Tricolor Formula 1 from the 1960s to the present day”. The exhibition will offer a journey through six decades of innovation and competition. Through the cars presented, visitors will discover the role of France in the history of Formula 1. Among the models on display are icons such as the Matra MS 80, world champion in 1969 and the Renault RS 10 from 1979, first Formula 1 car with a turbocharged engine to win a Grand Prix. The public will also be able to admire the 1988 Ligier JS31, the Williams Renault FW19, victorious in the 1997 world championship with Jacques Villeneuve, or the 1995 Benetton Renault, which allowed Michael Schumacher to win his second world title.
Each car will tell a story: that of French teams like Ligier, Matra, Prost Grand Prix or Renault, that of the exploits of French drivers such as Alain Prost, Jean Alesi, René Arnoux or Jean-Pierre Jabouille and that of French engine manufacturers such as Renault or Peugeot. This retrospective illustrates the lasting impact of France on the development of Formula 1, both on a sporting and technological level.
Prestigious speakers
In addition to the discovery of exceptional cars, Rétromobile 2025 will offer an immersive experience thanks to a series of interventions on the brand new live stage nestled in the heart of the exhibition. For five days, major players in French Formula 1 will share their experience and memories of the heydays of Formula 1 such as Olivier Panis, with his 158 Grand Prix starts; Jacques Laffite, winner of six races or even Jean Alesi, who has 201 starts in Formula 1, Jean-Éric Vergne, 58 starts in Formula and current driver for DS in Formula E, René Arnoux, 7 times victorious in Formula 1 and many more others which will be announced in the coming weeks.
