Rennes wins without shining against Angers
Winner without panache or passion of an Angers weakened by absences (2-0), Rennes at least offered itself a warm truce in the soft underbelly of Ligue 1, Sunday, during the 15th day, even if the construction site remains significant.
Rennes won thanks to a header from Gronbaek (33′) and a blocked shot from Assignon (92′). Twelfth with 17 points, Rennes is still far from the European wagon but it is at least four points ahead of the red zone, from which the SCO (15th), with 13 units, only escapes thanks to a better goal difference as Saint-Etienne (16th).
Strasbourg crushes Le Havre
Strasbourg largely dominated Le Havre. Djordje Petkovic first took a shot from Loïc Nego (21′), Sebastian Nanasi then doubled the lead with a low shot (32′).
At the end of the match, Andrey Santos participated in the celebration by taking a ball alone at the far post facing the empty goal (90′).
With this victory, Strasbourg is now five points ahead of Le Havre which is in 19th place and is giving itself some breathing room after five matches without success.
Brest ends its week in style
Despite numerous absences, Brest gave itself some breathing room in the race to maintain its position by correcting FC Nantes (4-1) which was plunging back into crisis.
With 19 points, the Brestois, 11th, are the same distance from the 16th play-off place currently occupied by Saint-Etienne, as from Lyon, 5th before its trip to the Parc des Princes in the evening.
On the Nantes side, a week after the victory in the derby against Rennes (1-0), it’s a cold shower, the Canaries remaining 14th but only a small point ahead of ASSE.
Kamory Doumbia found the net again by opening the score with a full-axis volley deflected by Nicolas Pallois (1-0, 24th) for his first goal of the season, imitated shortly after by captain Brendan Chardonnet who extended a free kick by Romain Del Castillo for the break goal (2-0, 27th).
Although they had a slightly more difficult start to the second act, the Brestois finished strongly thanks to Abdallah Sima, who came on in the 62nd minute, who ended the suspense by concluding two counterattacks (3-1, 88th and 4-1, 90th).
