The uncertainty about Domenico Tedesco’s future benefits no one. Philippe Albert expects a quick decision.

The absence of Domenico Tedesco from the draw for qualifying for the 2026 World Cup has caused a lot of talk. “We are still in the evaluation period after the Nations League. We are carrying out this evaluation together with Vincent Mannaert, with the greatest serenity. We have temporarily put Vincent and Domenico on the sidelines” CEO Peter Willems explained on the microphone of VTM.

A situation that is extremely annoying Philippe Albert : “It’s incredible that he didn’t make the trip. If I had been in his place, I would have gone alone,” he explains to La Capitale. “Within the federation, some people are paid to make decisions, but they don’t do it.”

More clarity needed

“There has to be someone who takes responsibility because the Nations League qualifiers and the World Cup qualifiers are coming soon,” he continues.

For the former consultant, the federation does not have as much time as one might think. Because if a new coach is appointed, he will need a minimum of time before the Nations League play-offs.

“I hope that things will progress in the days, even weeks to come,” he concludes. Suffice to say that for his induction as technical director, Vincent Mannert already has his work cut out for him.
