A Standard flop heads to Serie A

At Standard, the last summer transfer window was not easy. Fergal Harkin still managed to set up a competitive selection without significant resources. However, one of the most promising acquisitions is not living up to its potential in the Burning City. A departure is in progress.

Djukanovic leaves Standard

Viktor Djukanovic was loaned to Hammarby and Rouches also negotiated a purchase option. The wing forward was hoping to force his way into a possible top league via Standard. It’s surprising that he finally succeeds.

Ivan Leko is not a fan of the 20-year-old full-back. He participated in five duels and played just 62 minutes. This is also no way to give confidence to a player. He therefore wishes to leave Standard.

On the way to Serie A

At Rouches, this would free up the salary budget to possibly bring another player to Liège. Djukanovic has already put his agents to work and the solution may lie in Italy. A surprising transfer rumor surfaced there.

Indeed, according to Tuttomercatoweb, Empoli would be interested in the arrival of Djukanovic in Serie A. The club occupies a good tenth place in the Italian first division.

It would even be an additional step for Djukanovic. Standard has a purchase option of 3.8 million euros. He will therefore not exercise this option. A good attempt from Standard, but not a successful transfer.
