Emin Bayram begins his second season at Westerlo. He talks about our competition and his ambitions.
Westerlo made a nice move by recruiting permanently Emin Bayram this summer. The 21-year-old defender was coveted given his sharpness in duels. The club’s Turkish owner pushed to pay four million and will no doubt be more than repaid for the investment.
The player is well aware that he will not stay in our championship for long: “I dream of playing for Real Madrid. This white jersey is so attractive. I also have a weakness for Arsenal, the Premier League is my favorite championship” he declares to Nieuwsblad.
The Pro League, a good intermediate springboard
Before signing for Kempen, the Turk trained and made his professional debut with Galatasaray. He sympathized with a certain Dries Mertens : “Dries is a great guy. We still talk regularly via WhatsApp or Instagram. He is like a father to me. I learned a lot from him. He is such an intelligent player.”
The question of the most formidable attacker in our championship was also asked. But Bayram is not heading towards one of the competition’s top scorers. He quotes Vincent Janssen.
“He’s a great footballer. He uses his body so well. I like playing against strong strikers because I usually know what they’re going to do,” he concludes. With six goals and six assists, the Dutchman continues to impress our championship with the extent of his range, whether in the opponent’s box or sometimes much further down.
