Hein Vanhaezebrouck, now a consultant, is not a fan of Andreas Skov Olsen’s attitude this season. The Dane seems to have little involvement.
For Hein Vanhaezebrouck, Andreas Skov Olsen does not always give 100% with Club Brugge. “The way he chooses his moments is worse than Onyedika,” says the former La Gantoise coach in The Newspaper. “In him, it’s not nonchalance but disinterest in his tasks.”
The comparison with Jarne Steuckers at Genk makes the criticism of Skov Olsen even harsher. “Steuckers is not always at the top, but he offers more possibilities. Defensively, he is not the strongest, but Skov Olsen is mainly focused on himself,” says Vanhaezebrouck.
The consultant highlights Steuckers’ better fit to Genk’s game. But he’s not the Limburger’s biggest fan either, even if he’s a “handsome” football player: “Pleasant to see, elegant, that’s the worst you can say about a player football,” he jokes.
His preference for Jarne Steuckers is therefore mainly explained by his participation in collective tasks. “With Steuckers, it is easier for a player like El Ouahdi to split and cross. I don’t see this type of collaboration with Skov Olsen.”
Quite harsh statements from the former Ghent coach, but in line with his values when he was in office. We remember that he was not the biggest fan of “artists” neglecting their defensive tasks…
