Only one candidate in the running, already involved for many years in the management of the federation and following in the footsteps of his predecessor: there were no surprises on Saturday December 14 at the French Federation (FFBB) for the election of a new president. Jean-Pierre Huckler was elected with 95.41% of the votes during the elective general meeting

Aged 65, the man who was until now the first vice-president and general treasurer succeeds Jean-Pierre Siutat, who, at 65 and after several mandates (he was first elected in 2010), could not not represent yourself. The latter is leaving while the FFBB has a record number of licensees (765,909 in 2024) and the French teams won three silver medals at the Olympic Games this summer.

“My action plan will be broken down into five areas that I will share in the coming weeks and months with our leagues, committees and clubs, Mr. Huckler said. It is structured around a clear vision for our sport: facilitating access to basketball and spreading it to all sectors of society on the one hand, consolidating our results at the highest level by reaching first place on the podium on the other hand “.

This former business manager, who also chaired the Lyonnais league, also says he wishes “bringing together all the players: from the pros, through the National Basketball League, to the amateurs, to the public actors that are the communities, to the private sector with the companies and our partners”.
