FIBA WBLA 2024 – Against REG, ASCVD wins overtime and qualifies for the semi-final!

After Al Ahly SC (Egypt) and APR (Rwanda), ASCVD brilliantly grabbed the 3rd ticket in the semi-finals by overthrowing REG in a match which ended in overtime (61-57).

Rwanda Energy Group controlled its match in the first three quarters. Both offensively and defensively, Aminata Ly’s teammates were present. Inflicting an 18-8 on the Couna Ndao gang in the first quarter. The “Dakaroises” will do slightly better in the second round which they will win 15-11. REG is still ahead at halftime (29-23). And will further widen the gap during the 3rd quarter where “les Rwandaises” will manage to score 19 points and concede 12 points. Moustapha Gueye’s protégés had to pull themselves together very quickly. Praised by the public, they will wake up in the last round. A burst of pride at the end of the match to snatch extra time (55-55). The Municipality team will miss the +2 at the buzzer. But will get at least +5 minutes to keep its good pace and overthrow the “tenacious” REG with a 6-2 in overtime.

Let us remember that Al Ahly Sporting Club of Ndioma Kane and Madjiguene Sene beat the CNSS of Congo (86-39), a gap of 53 points considered to be the biggest gap in this edition. In the second quarter-final, APR of Rwanda defeated FBA of Côte d’Ivoire (59-49).

All that remains is Jeanne d’Arc who challenges Ferroviario Maputo at 9 p.m. to know the semi-final table.
