World Junior Championship: Beckett Sennecke invited to Canada’s selection camp

Anaheim Ducks prospect Beckett Sennecke will finally be at the Junior Team Canada selection camp.

Hockey Canada has announced that the third overall pick from the last draft has been added to the roster ahead of the team’s camp.

Easton Cowan will be present at the camp, but will not participate as a precautionary measure.

Sennecke scored 21 goals and 44 points in 26 games with the Oshawa Generals this season. The 18-year-old center scored 27 goals and 68 points in 63 games last season.

Sennecke’s name joins that of defender Zayne Parekh among the invited players who did not deserve their place when the official list was unveiled.

The selection camp will include two games against a U SPORTS all-star team on December 12 and 13. Following the selection camp, the Canadian team will travel to Petawawa, Ontario, for a four-day training camp from December 15 to 18 at the Silver Dart Arena in preparation for the tournament.

Canada will face Switzerland, Sweden and the Czech Republic in the preliminary round.

RDS will once again provide comprehensive coverage of the event by presenting the 29 tournament matches, as well as Team Canada’s three preparatory matches.
