Jaraaf de Dakar obtained its first point in the group stage of the Confederation of African (CAF) Cup this Sunday, sharing the points with USM Alger (0-0). This meeting, played at the Abdoulaye-Wade stadium in Diamniadio, allowed the “Green and Whites” to relaunch their quest for qualification in a still undecided Group C.

After an inaugural defeat against ASEC Mimosas (0-2) in Abidjan, Jaraaf was keen to redeem itself in front of its audience. Opposed to the reigning champion, the Medinese showed good defensive organization, preventing USM Alger from developing their usual offensive game.

Despite some interesting opportunities, particularly in the second half, the Dakar attackers were unable to materialize. For its part, the Algerian team, solid but uninspired offensively, also struggled to make a difference.

In the other match of the day, ASEC Mimosas and Orapa United tied (1-1), maintaining a certain balance in the ranking. After two days, ASEC Mimosas remains leader with 4 points, followed by USM Alger (2 points). Jaraaf, third with 1 point, is ahead of Orapa United, also 1 point, but with a worse goal difference.

Jaraaf will play a crucial match on day three when they travel to Botswana to face Orapa United. A victory could revive the ambitions of the Medinese, who hope to get through this group stage to assert themselves on the continental scene.
