It makes you wonder what Matthew Tkachuk ate this week.
After scoring four points on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Florida Panthers forward returned to action on Thursday night with five points in a 7-5 win against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Tkachuk finished his evening with a goal and four assists. He has now recorded 28 points in 22 games this season. Sam Reinhart also stood out in the victory with a goal and three points.
The match started well for the Panthers. They returned to the locker room with a 2-0 lead thanks to Evan Rodrigues and Niko Mikkola. Flyers head coach John Tortorella made a change in front of his net for the second period. Ivan Fedotov gave way to Aleksei Kolosov after allowing two goals on seven shots.
The situation did not change the shape of the game at the start since Aleksander Barkov completed a superb passing play with Reinhart and Tkachuk on the power play.
Philly, however, responded with two quick goals, before Carter Verhaeghe scored again on the power play. On this sequence, Barkov amassed his 20th assist of the campaign.
Owen Tippett, however, beat Spencer Knight on two occasions before the end of the second period to make it 4-4. Garnet Hathaway gave the Flyers the lead in the sixth minute of the third period.
Gustav Forsling calmed the game for the Panthers with just over five minutes left. His shot surprised Kolosov to level the score. Reinhart hurt Philly on another power play and Tkachuk put the finishing touch into an empty net moments later. The Panthers finished the evening with four goals in five power plays during this clash.
