on the verge of tears, Pip Hare announces that he has major mechanical problems on his boat

The British sailor, currently 16th in the ranking, announces that she is having a difficult day, following mechanical problems on her boat.

The week is complicated for many Vendée Globe skippers. After Louis Burton’s retirement last night, Pip Hare (Medallia) is also having a complicated time on his imoca. The British skipper experienced a series of problems which meant she had to rest for 24 hours. She explains her setbacks in a video where she expresses her frustration, almost her sorrow, regarding the problems she is currently experiencing on her ship.

«I’m having a really tough day. I feel like I’m being punished» says Pip Hare. “It’s a difficult day for me that started yesterday. It was carnage between my furling line which created a hole in my sails and my relay which no longer worked. I have to put one foot in front of the other in the next half day and it will be better” before wiping away a few tears. Tired and frustrated, the Briton continued the race after repairing her imoca. “No one said it would be easy, and it isn’t. But it doesn’t matter, we manage, it’s a problem to resolve, we’ll resolve the others along the way. We’re going to get there» she concludes.
