Surprise for a position in the Cup: David Hubert will not rotate – All football

Anderlecht hosts Westerlo this Thursday in the round of 16 of the Cup. And there will be no excessive rotation in David Hubert’s team, even at the goalkeeper position.

During the previous round, for RSC Anderlecht’s entry into the Belgian Cup, David Hubert had made a very reduced turn. A boy like Amando Lapage, for example, did not start the match.

But between the poles, a player was able to make his big debut: Mads KikkenborgColin Coosemans’ understudy. The 25-year-old Dane arrived at the start of 2024 in Anderlecht for 1.3 million euros, a considerable investment, and received his first chance there.

However, David Hubert is not one of those who believe that the Cup should systematically allow the number 2 to play. Thus, against Westerlo, it is indeed Coosemans who will play, as he confirmed this Wednesday at a press conference.

“Mads is training well and I felt at the time that he deserved to play. But Colin is our number 1 and he will be playing this Thursday,” said Hubert. Proof that if the trip to Tubize-Braine was a little more “taken”, the Cup remains a major objective for the RSCA, which therefore wants to put all the chances on its side.

Kikkenborg had not been in much demand in Tubize, but had seemed quite reassuring for his defense on the few balls that had reached him. Difficult, however, to compete with Coosemans in the form of his life.
