AS Saint-Étienne was once again humiliated on the road this weekend against by conceding a loss, five goals to zero, at Roazhon Park against Stade Rennais.

After the disappointments suffered in against Stade Brestois (4-0), in against OGCN (8-0) and in against SCO (4-2), the Greens were humiliated again this Saturday on the Rennes side by conceding five new away goals, making AS Saint-Étienne one of the worst defenses in Europe away from home (5-0).

After the enormous debacle suffered in Nice last September, eight goals to zero, tags and then banners were displayed at L'Etrat before the groups of supporters met the managers, the staff and the players to set things straight . A strategy which turned out to be rather profitable in the short term with a draw won in after being down two to zero (2-2) then a victory against at home (3-1). Nevertheless, the old demons from Saint-Etienne subsequently resurfaced in Angers (4-2) but especially in Rennes this weekend with another scathing defeat (5-0).

A setback and a humiliation that is difficult to pass on to the supporters. The Magic Fans decided to react by deploying a banner at L'Etrat with a clear message: “Wearing your balls is all year long, last time we watch you break them!

Words which seem to echo those made by the Saint-Etienne captain, Gautier Larsonneuron the broadcaster's microphone last Saturday after the match: “We reproduce far too many mature errors externally. We are too weak on the outside, we have no character, we don't move around. At home we are good guys because we are at home but outside it is very complicated.”
