This Monday, December 23, travelers were stuck in their TER between Toulon and Nice after a tree fell on the track near Cuers. The SNCF is working to resolve this problem as quickly as possible so that travelers can take their connection during this end-of-year holiday period.
The travelers learned the news on the stationary train. “The controller announced to us, not minutes of stoppage, but hours”, testifies a passenger on board who warned France 3 Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.
Contacted, SNCF confirmed the damage, indicating that “the catenary is affected, and tree trimmers are on site to try to clear the track as quickly as possible and allow repair operations to take place.”
An emergency meeting is underway to “organize the necessary assistance to travelers, so that everyone can reach their destination, by one means or another”, indicates Cyril Durand of SNCF travelers.
“We are told that all travelers will receive SMS and e-mail messages for all connection tactics, because they missed their train. The SNCF will offer them solutions,” a traveler on board a blocked train tells us.
The return to normal is announced around noon.
