The “Vaudois Sports Merits” rewarded footballer Dan Ndoye and Olympic medalist Zoé Claessens on Thursday evening in Vevey. No prizes for local athletes.

After 2023, Zoé Claessens was crowned Vaud sportswoman of the year for the second time in a row. The BMX rider, bronze medalist in during the last Olympic Games, was acclaimed by a jury made up of the sports press and the public on Thursday evening in Vevey.

The one who trains all year round in Aigle, at the world center of cycling, was ahead of the sprinter from Jongny Léonie Pointet and the skipper Maud Jayet in the votes.

Among men, it was one of the attractions of this summer that won out. The winger of the national football team and Bologna Dan Ndoye was elected sportsman of the year, ahead of Marc Rochat (alpine skiing) and Raphaël Ahumada (rowing).

Léo Mesce was not named the best Vaudois prospect. However, L’Aiglon placed second in the recent European Junior Trampoline Championships. In this category, Binta Ndiaye won the statuette, after reaching the round of 16 of the judo competition during the last Olympic Games.

The best Vaud manager of the year is Gilbert Gonet, coach at Ski romand, rewarded for his work in biathlon. The Lausanne Hockey Club was crowned “team of the year”. The winners of this 2024 edition were completed by Laurent Garnier (disability sport) and UHC Begnins (team of the year).
