Lille scored another victory on Wednesday evening (2-1) against Bologna while AS Monaco, reduced to ten, gave in to Benfica Lisbon (3-2) during the 5th day of the Champions League which saw Liverpool dominate Real Madrid (2-0) and consolidate their first place.
In Bologna, Lille were courageous until the end to record a third victory in the premier competition thanks to a double from Ngal’ayel Mukau (44th, 66th).
Bruno Genesio’s players, 12th, managed to hold on while Bologna pushed until the end of the match. With this victory, they move closer to qualifying for the Champions League play-offs.
At the end of a close and pleasant match which saw two goals refused, ASM, the other French club in contention on Wednesday evening, ended up cracking at the end of the match and was overthrown by Benfica.
Reduced to ten after the expulsion of Wilfried Singo, the Monegasques did not achieve the feat of stringing together a fourth victory and are now 8th in the standings.
They conceded their first defeat before moving to Arsenal.
