Xamax will not be able to replay its match against Thun. The “red and black” Challenge League club saw its protest rejected by the disciplinary committee of the Swiss Football League (SFL) this Thursday. As a reminder, the Neuchâtel football club legally contested its 3-2 defeat suffered against Thun in the summit match of the Challenge League last Friday. The Neuchâtel residents lodged a protest after the match against Thun’s equalizing goal at 2-2. According to them, referee Hüseyin Sanli committed an irregularity during the scene in question, namely that he interrupted the game for a foul just before the own goal of the Xamaxian defender Euclides Cabral. The “red and black” demanded that the match be replayed. This Thursday, the SFL commission indicated that it rejected the protest, considering “that the referee was legitimately able to consider that the ball was no longer in play – therefore behind the goal line – at the time of his whistle”. It specifies that “a possible error by the referee in this regard would be within his discretion and would therefore not constitute a technical fault. » This decision is therefore final. /comm-lgn
