RSC Anderlecht won their second meeting in Group C of the Elite Round of the Futsal Champions League, late Wednesday afternoon in Lisbon.
Opposed to the Portuguese club Braga, the Belgian champions won 6-1 (https://tinyurl.com/754e2t7y).
This success still leaves them with very little hope of qualifying for the Final Four.
Raul Jimenez opened the scoring (1-0, 6:04). Alexandre Cunha quickly equalized for the Portuguese (1-1, 8:09), before Italian international Cainan (ex-Palma) put Anderlecht back in control (2-1, 12:50).
Three goals from Cainan in less than five minutes
At the end of the second half, RSCA increased the score thanks to three additional goals from Cainan (3-1, 34:53; 4-1, 35:27; and 6-1, 39:20).
Grello, the team captain, had meanwhile scored the 5th goal (37:11, 5-1).
The RSCA lost 4-1 (https://tinyurl.com/bdeue4mf) against Sporting Clube de Portugal on Tuesday in its first meeting, against the opponent who had eliminated it in the semi-final of the competition in 2023.
Portuguese Sporting, for their part, dominated the Czechs from Plzen 7-2 (https://tinyurl.com/4hcppfzk).
After this second success, the double winner of the Champions League (2019, 2021) already has one foot in the semi-finals.
SK Plzen, beaten 4-2 by Braga on the first day, will be the third and final opponent for Anderlecht on Friday (6:30 p.m.).
And if Braga beat the other Sporting in the group…
The sixteen teams present at the Elite Tour are divided into four groups.
Only the four winners qualify for the Final Four which will be played from May 1 to 4, 2025.
Anderlecht finished second in their group last season.
This time they hope to take advantage of an improbable feat from Braga against the group favorites…
