Olympique Lyonnais sanctioned after excesses during the derby against Saint-Etienne

The disciplinary committee of the Professional League decided, Wednesday November 27, the closure for a match of “the space reserved for the Lyon 1950 group” at the Groupama stadium following excesses during the derby between Olympique Lyonnais and Saint-Etienne on November 10. This sanction takes effect immediately, said the League press release.

If nothing had been noticed during the match by the authorities, a homophobic chant directed against the Stéphanois was nevertheless denounced on X at the end of the meeting by the Rouge Direct collective, which fights against homophobia in football. The match was also suspended for five minutes because of smoke bombs set off by supporters.

Concerning the projectile throw which targeted DAZN journalist Ambre Godillon during the match between Olympique de and on November 8, the commission decided “a suspended match behind closed doors at the Vélodrome stadium”. Shortly before half-time of the OM-Auxerre match, lost by Marseille (3-1), Ambre Godillon, former presenter of PSG , was the victim of a projectile which hit her under the eye. OM apologized to the journalist as well as to DAZN.

Verdicts expected for and

Furthermore, following the attempted pitch invasion during Sunday’s match between Nantes and at the Beaujoire stadium, the disciplinary committee placed the “file under investigation”while pronouncing “as a precautionary measure” the partial closure of the stand. The decision will be made on December 18.

Concerning the violence during the Ligue 2 match between Bastia and on Saturday, the body has also put this case under investigation and a decision will be given on December 11. The disciplinary committee pronounced as a precautionary measure “the closed doors of the Armand Cesari stadium”until the final decision is delivered on December 11.
